Emerging adulthood is typically around the ages of 18-29 and full of mixed thoughts of adolescence and adulthood. Most believe that adult hood is based on whether you are mainly independent and on your own with decision making and finances. A main topic of emerging adulthood is the transition of fluid intelligence to crystalized intelligence. Fluid intelligence is the capacity to think logically and solve problems in novel situations, independent of acquired knowledge and crystallized intelligence is the ability to use skills, knowledge, and experience. It does not equate to memory, but it does rely on accessing information from long-term memory. As you age you begin to learn from experience and trail and error rather than your skills because you have already peaked your knowledge, therefore your fluid intelligence decreases.
