is it Easier being a man?
In today's society being a man has become harder because of the era we live in now where women are becoming equal in the work place and school as men. Also in today's society men are not allowed to show anything but toughness and masculinity. "If girls call themselves tomboys, it's with a sense of pride but boys make fun of other boys if they step just a little outside the rigid masculine stereotype." Men have tough time in society when they're unable to show complete strength and toughness. "I don't want other men to look at me like less of a man," Kroeger said. This also comes along with how "Masculinity is valued more than femininity," University of Utah law professor Clifford Rosky said. "So there's less worry about girls than about boys." Overall, men do have it hard in society, however, they also have significant advantages and better and more chances than the opposite sex.
Or is it easier being a woman?
"Men held some of the most powerful jobs in society, including doctor, lawyer and politician. Women, on the other hand, governed the domestic sphere. They were expected to stay home, raise children and have an evening meal waiting for their husbands. If they did work, it was as a secretary, a nurse or another stereo-typically female profession." This was the lifestyle of the world in the late 20th century. This was until women began to push to become more than what the glass ceiling said. In today's society the amount of stay at home dads has increased along with the amount of women in high position jobs. However, men and women in the same job continue to not have equality. Men in the same position as women on average have a higher pay than the woman. Women may be discriminated in the work place on some levels but the hardness of being a female in society equals out to that of a male.
COmbining roles in today's society
In the society of the early 21st century the toughness of gender roles and equality of gender roles has became less strict. "Though change is still in the air, there's no doubt that men and women's roles have become less strictly defined, and many families have made the male and female roles more egalitarian when it comes to jobs, housework and childcare." says Molly
